Supporting a Carer of Someone with Dementia

It is most welcome to see the Ashford CCG highlighting the importance of supporting the carer of someone with dementia.

Too often a crisis at home might have been averted if the carer either had a little help or some time to rest. This recognises that no one knows the person with dementia like their carer, and in reverse the person with dementia will trust that person most and be most at ease and familiar with their own home environment.

Support for the carer will mean fewer admissions to hospital and could either delay or completely avoid a need for long term residential or nursing care.
