Dear colleagues,

A few updates and notices from Skills for Care

Nominations for the annual Accolades are being welcomed! Please see the attached flyer. The closing date for entries is Thursday 24 September 2015.

Care Certificate

Dementia

How to identify dementia<http://www.skillsforcare.org.uk/Document-library/Skills/Dementia/How-to-identify-Dementia-WEB.pdf> - this leaflet is aimed at all social care staff and explains the importance of making a diagnosis for dementia, what to look out for that could mean someone has dementia and what staff need to do in order to help those individuals.

I Care… Ambassadors

Meet I Care…Ambassador videos<http://www.skillsforcare.org.uk/Finding-and-keeping-workers/I-CareAmbassadors/Meet-the-I-Care-Ambassadors.aspx> - we have produced a suite of videos which share the experiences of some of our I Care…Ambassadors. Each ambassador tells their own story, giving an honest insight into their day to day role as a frontline care worker, opportunities for personal development and the rewards of working in adult social care. These videos can be used by employers to support the recruitment of I Care…Ambassadors and can be used by locality managers as part of their discussions with employers who are considering which of their staff could deliver ambassador activity. The videos are supported by three written case studies (available on the webpage). Printed copies of these case studies are available.
