NSA Registered Manager Membership

Dear Colleagues,

Skills for Care is the home of the National Skills Academy for Social Care, and I would like to bring your attention to the Membership offer of the National Skills Academy.

Membership of the NSA strengthens the leadership capabilities of registered managers; leadership is the ‘golden thread’ that runs through the core of membership, which has been designed to offer support in addition to the Registered Manager networks already supported by Skills for Care for this group of professionals.

Membership is aimed at registered managers, however deputy managers and those in a similar role (such as the manager of a day care centre) are not restricted from joining.

Registered managers receive membership of the NSA for 12 months for a membership fee of £35. After 12 months, members are asked to renew their membership. Please see the attachment for joining/renewing guidance.

Many organisations choose to ‘bulk purchase’ membership on behalf of multiple registered managers as one way of demonstrating their commitment and support for this workforce (employers interested in doing so should contact Edward Hopkins at membership@skillsforcare.org.uk).

The benefits of membership are:

a welcome pack including a copy of the Social Care Manager’s Handbook and a membership certificate

We send this to members within 24 hours of them joining.

The membership pack is a folder with hole punched inserts.

The membership certificate includes a unique membership number.

You can find a digital copy of the membership certificate and the Social Care Manager’s Handbook as part of the supporting documents for this briefing.

Please note: The handbook is part of the costed offer so we ask you not to forward this on.

an exclusive member’s newsletter containing monthly ‘cut out and keep’ updates to add to your handbook

There is a ‘cut out and keep’ tab within the membership pack, members are encouraged to print off the Cut out and keep feature from each newsletter and insert it into their membership pack each month. Please see previous newsletters here: February / March / April / May

the opportunity to receive mentoring or become a mentor for other registered managers

Dates have been confirmed for the first mentoring workshops:

A workshop for members wishing to become a mentor will be held on 16th of June 2016 in London.

A workshop for members wishing to be mentored will be held on 21st of June 2016 in London.

We anticipate holding further workshops later in the year.
