This month saw KiCA meeting with the CAA which had a packed agenda including challenging discussions with Andrea Sutcliffe at the CQC and Bev Mayberry from ADASS. In addition the CAA commissioning report was agreed which is available here for you to Download, this is an extensive look at the state of commissioning across the UK from all 27 Care Associations. The NHS contribution towards the costs of a place in a care home with nursing is being increased to £156.25 per week, a rise of 40% over the 2015-16 rate of £112.
Funded Nursing Care is a contribution towards an individual’s care home costs paid for by the NHS to reflect the fact that the individual has nursing needs that can only be met by a registered nurse. It is only paid to care homes that are registered to provide nursing care. Full Story can be Read HERE

KiCA representatives have met with KCC Directorate Andrew Ireland and Cabinet Member Graham Gibbons on 2 separate occasions in the past 2 weeks to discuss the outcomes for the Judicial Review and the next steps. These meetings have been productive and we are now developing a Day Long Workshop with All forms of Care across Kent in September to work through issues on contracting and fees in anticipation for the new round of contracting.
KiCA now believe we are the forefront working on behalf of our members to get the best positioning for care business in Kent. We will be updating on the progress and outcomes from our workshop and how this will impact are Care Sectors.
KiCA is calling all LD/ MH/ PH D providers in Medway and Kent to meet and share the hurdles the Health and Social care sector are facing both now and in the future. KICA is interested in your challenges so that we can represent your views at trade association meetings with KCC and Medway in order to influence policy and strategy. It is in everyone’s interest that our care businesses remain sustainable and that we continue to achieve good outcomes for the most vulnerable people in our care.
Sharing the issues will make us stronger and learning from each other’s experience will increase our knowledge and confidence in confronting what is wrong and supporting what is right.
KiCA is seeking to support you with achieving a fair price in a turbulent environment.
